Privacy policy

Footy Predictions (footypredictions.win) is a free football prediction game for friends. This page explains what we collect, why, and what you can ask us to do with it. It's written to be read, not skimmed past.

What we collect

• Your account. Your email address, and if you sign in with Google, the name and profile picture Google shares with us. We only ask Google for your basic profile (name, email and picture). We never see your Google password, contacts, files or anything else in your Google account.
• Your password, if you sign up with email instead of Google. It is stored by our login provider as a one-way hash, so nobody, including us, can read it.
• What you do in the game. The leagues you create or join, your predictions, and when you made them.
• Basic technical logs. Like most websites, our hosting provider briefly records requests (such as IP address, browser and the page requested) to keep the site running and secure.

How we use it

• To log you in and keep you logged in.
• To run the game: saving your predictions, scoring them and showing league tables.
• To show other members of your leagues your name, picture and predictions. Your picks for a fixture are hidden from other players until it kicks off.
• To keep the service secure and fix problems.

We don't sell your data, show adverts, or use advertising or analytics trackers. We won't send you marketing emails. The legal basis for this is that we need the data to provide the game you signed up for, and our legitimate interest in keeping it secure.

Cookies

We only use cookies the site needs to work:

• Login cookies, which keep you signed in.
• A theme cookie, which remembers whether you picked light, dark or automatic mode.

There are no advertising or tracking cookies, so there's nothing to opt out of.

Who else handles your data

We use a small number of providers to run the service. They only process your data on our behalf:

• Supabase stores the database and handles logins.
• Cloudflare hosts the website.
• Google handles "Continue with Google", if you choose to use it.

These providers may process data outside the UK. Where they do, they use the standard legal safeguards for international transfers.

How long we keep it

We keep your account and predictions for as long as you have an account, so your league history stays intact. If you ask us to delete your account, we'll remove your personal details and predictions. Hosting logs are kept only briefly by our providers.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, or to delete your account and data. Email hello@footypredictions.win and we'll reply within a month. If you're in the UK and unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

You can also remove Footy Predictions's access to your Google account at any time from your Google account's third-party connections page.

Children

Footy Predictions isn't intended for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If a change is significant, we'll tell you in the app.
